  • Texas picking road trip BTS + Midwest Mid-century collection reveal! (finally)

    It's only been a couple of months yet the world has literally changed since my road-trip to Texas! While it was my intention to finish this collection sooner, it was also important to pay attention to the authenticity + details that really make our clients fall in love with our pieces. Because when it comes to wedding rentals, that's just how we do things at Mi Vintage! If you love American Pickers, then you'll definitely enjoy reading this month's blog post! Get ready to go BTS of my vintage + architectural salvage picking road trip in Texas. I'll also share Three Tips for planning the perfect (and most economic) road trip, in case you get inspired to plan your own. Last, but certainly not least, the most exciting part, our "Midwest Mid-Century" collection reveal inspired by this road trip! Road tripping is one of my favorite things to do, in fact, that's how MV's very first sofa was found! Every year, I take a road trip to a different state in the US and go "picking" for unique pieces. This year, an IG filter decided my state. Or should I say the state chose me? Because Texas literally had the perfect inspirational landscapes & vibe this mid-century collection needed! Here's the IG video! On the way through Texas, we had to stop by one my bucket list places: Magnolia at The Silos owned by Chip & Joanna Gaines, the power couple behind "Fixer Upper". I absolutely love this HGTV show, their style & just them as a couple! To say I was fan-girling is an understatement! The trip was funner thanks to these two crazies. To my left, we have Arnold, my SO and MV's muscle + craft-master extraordinaire. To my right, we have Tiff, my vintage soul sista + MV's client relation & sales director. It was truly an amazing experience! Check out our video recap on IG! Now to the good stuff, saving money $$$! When planning a picking trip, you want to make sure you get the best bang for your buck. This way, you have more money left for the actual finds! TIPS FOR PLANNING THE PERFECT PICKING TRIP: 1. BE FLEXIBLE WITH THE DATE  Picking a good priced flight is tricky. Sometimes its double the price traveling from Friday-Monday versus Thursday-Tuesday, for example, so being flexible with your dates definitely saves you money! Select different date combinations so you see the price difference and choose the best one for you! 2. SEARCH SURROUNDING AIRPORTS If I want to visit a city but the ticket is too pricey, I book the closest (and cheapest) location around, sometimes its only a difference of 30-60 min, and drive to my desired city destination. I always rent a car or truck to get around either way so I don't mind driving to save $. Plus, I always find really cool places to explore along the way. After all, traveling is about the journey, not the destination. Also, when road-tripping, I usually start in one city and end at another, so I search the cheapest one-way flight combinations & purchase them individually. I've saved $300+ with flight combos. 3. HAVE A TRAVEL PLAN FOR YOUR NEW FRIENDS (FINDS) For some trips, I’ve rented a pickup truck to commute around the city and shipped the items using a logistics company. I've also rented a storage unit or trailer to store the pieces temporarily. Before the trip date arrives, I get quotes from different companies and read their reviews. I rather pay more for a reputable company than try a newer, cheaper, company. After all the hard work it takes to find these treasures, I can't just trust anyone to safely transport my new babies back. I also ask how far in advance I need to reserve their services. Some require at least 1-week reservation, others only 24 hours. Since I have to be flexible during these trips, I tend to choose the company requiring minimal time in advance, but again, with good reviews. Prices are constantly changing so I get new quotes each year. Other trips, I've rented a box truck & drive down, like I did in Texas. I prefer Enterprise & Uhaul but their rates vary by state, so I always get a new quote & pick the cheapest.     Mi Vintage celebrates love all year long, so Valentine's day is a big deal around here! From January blues to a February full of LOVE-LY wedding rentals! As a wedding and event specialty rentals company based in Miami, we feel it our responsibility to not only offer great quality event & wedding furniture rentals but also bring our clients the latest industry trends. Our mission is to help our brides-to-be achieve the Wedding of their dreams by teaching them how to easily incorporate our modern-vintage, boho, vintage, eclectic, rustic, vintage-glam collection into their big day! For the greater part of last year, we hosted monthly open houses in an effort to create more interactive meetings for our clients and allow them to see our rental collection “in action”.   • BOHO DONE DIFFERENT!

    As a rental company who specializes in unique weddings, we are constantly looking for inspiration to bring our clients the latest trends and keep our inventory innovative! Because of its curated nature, bohemian-style events have always been our favorite to set up. We wanted to showcase some of the latest additions to our ever-growing collection and give the modern bohemian bride ideas for her big day. After seeing so many gorgeous boho-inspired weddings, we embarked on a creative journey by designing a styled shoot of our very own, combining the elegance of modern lines with the romanticism of vintage silhouettes we love so much. The idea of this shoot was to be inspired by textures while still making it feel luxurious and timeless. First things first, we needed the perfect venue. It had to look quaint but luxe, with lots of white areas but also foliage. Nestled near the heart of West Palm beach we found Rich Hippies House and instantly fell in love. This open-concept space doubles as a vacation rental + venue and is home to a gorgeous array of miniature cottages all decorated with treasures collected from the founder’s numerous travels. This is not your typical south Floridian home and we loved that! Now that our inspiration was complete and a picturesque location was confirmed, we set out to gather a team of A-list vendors to help make our vision come to life! The Cardonas, who specialize in airy photos and have a keen eye for detail, were the perfect creative duo to help us capture our story. Although pampas and dried florals have been used many times before, we wanted to elevate it. That’s where Miami Centerpieces, a floral designer specializing in clean and elegant designs, came to save the day! She took the story inspiration and made it her own while still staying true to the different textures found in bohemian events. We’re so thankful to have gotten all floral supplies donated by one of the best floral suppliers and growers in South Florida: Jetfresh Flowers. Then, we set out to find the perfect modern boho bridal attire with dainty details and lots of texture and said “Yes, to the dress” from Brides of Florida. Next, because an event without cake is just a meeting, Earth and Sugar, a prestigious dessert studio specializing in modern techniques and artistic design, created the most beautiful textured cake! The Bride and Groom are a real-life couple who contacted our rental company for their wedding. After meeting them and realizing they had the perfect look for this shoot, we asked them to be part of our project and we’re so ecstatic they agreed! Last but certainly not least, Only One Mark Inc. curated a custom invitation suite to match the colors and vibe and wrote out each place card in calligraphy! We’re so thankful to everyone who helped us bring this modern-vintage bohemian inspiration to life and hope to continue inspiring couples for their special day!     Hey Lovelies! Soooo, we have to admit that we have been on a boho binge lately. So much so, that now everyone in the office updated their wardrobe styles to include boho pieces. What can we say… we have to match our new collection! We always start all of our open houses with a mood board to set the tones + vibes we are going for. For our MODERN BOHO OPEN HOUSE  we were inspired by the following colors: tan, linens, & rose gold. We love how eclectic boho designs can be, but for this design we decided to keep with the neutral tones with a touch of modern rose gold accents.     So, you’ve been gawking at #mivintage setups for a while and your boyfriend of several years finally pops the question! (What took him so long?) Naturally, your Wedding is all planned out via Pinterest and now you just need to execute “the look”. After calling your BFF's to share the great news and arguing about the type of dresses they’ll be wearing… you make an appointment with the event rental company you know will help take your décor to the next level: Mi Vintage Rentals (of course)! You’ve made an appointment for the upcoming week and are now curious of what to expect! Below, we’ll be explaining the process from the time you schedule your appointment to the time you finalize your Invoice. If you haven’t made an appointment yet or are unsure if we are the right company for you, we hope we can sway you to come for the bubbly and stay for our rentals! ONE: Set Up An Appointment The first and most important part of the process is scheduling an appointment. Mi Vintage Rentals is a Miami based company that carries a huge selection of vintage, rustic, vintage-glam, boho, modern-vintage and eclectic pieces guaranteed to help take your wedding, baby shower, bridal shower, baptism, first communion or whatever occasion you’re celebrating to the next level! Making the event of your dreams into a reality is just a simple email or phone call away.Our meeting days are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am-1pm. On Mondays and Tuesdays we work hard to organize the showroom in order to make it look impeccable for you, so we do not hold meetings on either of those days. Woohoo! Now, let’s fast-forward to the day of the appointment. This is where the fun truly begins! TWO: THROUGH THE RAINBOW HALL & INTO THE MINT DOOR Showroom experiences are important to us! Not only are you able to finally meet that farm table or settee piece you’ve been stalking for several months (we love stalkers), but we get to meet you and hear your story. Everyone that walks in through our mint door has a unique story and we love listening to them. It makes us feel so special that you have decided to share your special occasion with us or at least give us the chance to prove that we’ll do whatever it takes to make your day perfect! Our showroom is located at the edge of Doral within the warehouse district. Our address is 5463 NW 72 AVE, MIAMI, FL 33166. To help our lovely clients find our warehouse easier, and because we have a slight obsession with this color, we’ve painted our office door in MINT! It is truly hard to miss. As for parking, we have plenty of free parking spaces in front of our warehouse, just park wherever you’d like. The moment we hear your knock, one of Event Specialists will come out to greet you! Walking in, you’ll see a handwritten wall where our founder, Liz, explains how she turned her love for the olden things into a company that today has helped over thousands of clients! Feel free to read it once you arrive. As you come in and take a seat on our comfy couch, we’ll provide you with a questionnaire to fill out. Now, this is not your doctor’s-office-kind-of-paperwork! This simple sheet won’t take much of your time and will help our Event Specialist get to know you and your style a bit more, which is a total must for a successful event! Because we know Rose helps us all get through the day (or morning… hey it’s 5 o’clock somewhere right?!), we offer you some while you wait. For our preggos, we offer our “mom-se”, made from sparkling berry juices. You didn’t think we’d leave you out right?! Mommies-to-be deserve some bubbly too! The choice is yours and it comes served in an adorable flute! And of course, we also have water available served in the cutest branded bottles we ever did see! Once your paperwork is filled out and you’ve enjoyed your drink, feel free to ask for more if you’d like, it is time to make your way through the rainbow hall and into the whimsical world of Mi Vintage! Our rainbow hall is filled with most of our small details meticulously arranged by color. From vintage books to birdcages, airplanes to brass candle holders, vinyl’s to old cookie jars. We love when clients see a piece and it instantly takes them back to memories of their childhood. The nostalgia and warm feeling that our pieces provide them is priceless. If there are any small pieces that you are in love with, and must absolutely have at your event, let us know and we’ll add it to your list of favorites. At the very end of the hallway is another mint door and once you go inside, your life will forever change. No, really, it will! Our inventory is breathtaking (if we do say so ourselves) and if you admire collected heirlooms just as we do, you’ll never want to leave! We have racks upon racks and shelves upon shelves filled with furniture and props of all genres: vintage, rustic, mid-century, industrial, vintage-glam, boho, modern-vintage and eclectic. All categorized to make your navigation across the warehouse easier. While exploring our showroom, imagine that you are creating a registry but instead of a gift-registry, you are creating an event-wishlist. Your Event Specialist will take you around, provide ideas of pieces that will be the perfect fit for your event, and she’ll jot down all your faves and add it to your list. THREE: THE END AND THE BEGINNING… Once you’ve sipped on some bubbly, taken a tour of our showroom, picked out all your favorites and spoken to one of our Event Specialists about your special event; your appointment has come to an end. But this is only the beginning of your rental journey, we promise we’ll be in touch soon! In the next two (business) days after your appointment, you’ll receive a perfectly curated Wishlist composed of all your favorites! Can I get a WOOT WOOT?! Please note that Saturday and Sunday do not count as business days since our offices are closed. Once you’ve had a chance to review your Wishlist, we’ll help you finalize it and confirm your reservation! Having you over the showroom is extremely special to us! Without all of you, we wouldn’t be here today and no matter how much time passes by or how large our company grows, we never forget that! Unless you do this for a living, it is very easy to become overwhelmed with planning your own event and for that reason; from the moment you step in through our mint door, please know that you can count on us for whatever you may need.     Hey there! Mi Vintage is pleased to announce that we will FINALLY have a blog and we couldn’t be more ecstatic! Like literally jumping up and down, throwing our hands up in the air kind of excitement! Throughout the years, working on events all over South Florida, so many un-recorded details have happened behind the scenes! Sometimes we joke, “we should have our own reality show”! With all the craziness that goes on, we know you would be truly entertained! We don’t always get to share these moments and we thought it’s time you get in on the action! This monthly blog will bring you useful event decorating tips, DIY projects and a list of our favorite past events! In addition, you’ll get behind-the-scenes access to our gorgeous showroom, picking trips to the middle of nowhere and inside stories from our amazing event crew! We even plan on collaborating with some of our favorite local vendors to bring you the latest trends and all the inspiration you need to host a successful event!
